Keeping the anchor locker dry
The anchor locker on the Saona is huge. I can keep all my fenders, three sails, pasarelle, pressure washer and spare lines in there. But, the opening for anchor and anchor chain is an open window for the water to get in. Technically that is no problem, because the anchor locker is self-draining (as long as the drains are not blocked). But I prefer to keep all my equipment there salt free. I developed a Delrin plug to close the hole where the anchor comes into the boat. It works very well to keep the anchor locker sort of dry. You place it after the anchor has been hauled in and remove it before you deploy it. Finally I installed a gasket on the lid to make that water tight too.
